RIAA Needs to Get With The Times
Traditional media organizations still fail to grasp the concept of the open market they are being forced to operate in and the individual artists who ignore them and play to this model are prospering. Sure, if you want the flaming tourbus full of groupies with cocaine on their tits, the last few major labels are the way to get there most likely, but even then, have you noticed how there really aren’t any NEW supergroups?
Where is our Van Halen or Led Zeppelin or The Beatles? They don’t exist, because the marketplace doesn’t support that model anymore. This is why all the old bands are being drawn out of the woodwork. People have CHOICES. Instead of being forced to choose between a few dozen artists supported by some music exec who thinks I’ll just buy whatever he’s selling, I can turn to my trusted internet connection to find whatever I WANT to here. If I want to listen to drill presses cutting into metal for the next six hours, I can find it out there, cause odds are, someone else does too.
